We all know the ‘Mountain’ to be one of the top adventure- tourism destinations in Limpopo and we are so excited to add the Otterholt Meander trail to the list of things to do! A gorgeously sculpted 3.5 km walk that traverses through the pristine indigenous biomes on Otterholt farm. Located 1km down Cheerio road, Magoebaskloof.
The trail begins at the big oak tree at the Otterholt sign on Cheerio road, it then meanders down the woodbush granite grassland and meets up with the trail’s rocky outcrop, then you get introduced to an indigenous forest that boasts a beautiful forest amphitheatre. You then re-emerge out into the grassland and meander through the Helichrysum thicket, discover a natural spring and end up at a dam at the heart of the farm ‘The Nook’. Learn about the sustainable way to pump water using a ram pump. Listen to the frog calls, dip your toes in the cool mountain water or have a picnic. You then soon meet up with the last stretch of the trail. By this point there is a gentle uphill, making you all the more grateful to get the shade of the big oak tree.
